How the Legislators Voted on the Recess Vote at the Constitutional Convention
Call to Action
Thank you! While we didn't receive a vote on the marriage amendment yesterday, there is much to celebrate! We want to thank everyone who attended the Constitutional Convention yesterday -- we had an impressive showing, matching the number of amendment opponents -- as well as all of you who contacted your elected officials, volunteered in the office and at standouts across the state, prayed for the effort, and helped to fund it. God bless you all, and keep it up!
We are currently working on a plan approaching the next Constitutional Convention, now scheduled for Thursday, November 9th. VoteOnMarriage and the other supporters of the amendment need to keep the pressure on the legislature. Senate President Travaglini has publicly promised a vote, and we need to hold him to that promise.
We have much to celebrate in that during the Constitutional Convention in 2002, only 53 legislators voted against an unconstitutional adjournment of the session. This time around, 91 legislators voted against the recessing of the convention. We have gained the support of individuals who feel that one way or another, the legislature MUST address a valid citizens intiative which has gathered the necessary signatures.
We need your continued support. Below is the list of all of our legislators, and how each voted on the question of whether to recess the convention and subvert democracy (Y), or continue debate and move ahead with the amendment (N).
Please, if your legislator voted NO against recessing, call and THANK him or her, even if the legislator opposes the amendment.
And if your legislator voted YES to recess the convention, call and ask WHY, and tell him or her you are adamant this not happen again in November.
Please call your Representative AND Senator. If you do not know their names and phone numbers, click on this link, and our online system will guide you to them based upon your voting address.
We need to keep reminding the legislators: THIS WILL NOT GO AWAY. We will keep coming back, again and again, until the people can vote on marriage. It's as simple as that.
